29000ft

There will be no MIR if there’s no Robert Goh. Well, it may be an arguably exaggerated statement. Still, nobody doubts Robert’s crucial role in starting up the very first student mountaineering club in Singapore

While still an active mountaineer himself, in 2006 Robert started his company, 29000ft, which specializes in mentoring aspired climbers and organizing motivational talk. This is all to ensure more Singaporeans to embrace mountaineering, the philosophy and the spirit behind the sport.

Alfa Nepal

This Kathmandu-based trekking company, founded by Dawa Sherpa from MIR 4th-batch (Yes! We have a true Sherpa among our ranks) and Tenzeeng Sherpa, is our affiliate in the Nepalese border.

In 2009, a combined MIR6, MIR7 and MIR8 expedition attempted Island Peak (Imja Tse) with the company. Unfortunately, weather wasn’t on their side. The following year 2010, another combined MIR6 and MIR8 expedition went to Tharpu Chuli , except that this time around, it was a successful summit attempt.

For you next visit to Nepal, just drop him a message, and he is ready to extend arms and legs to ensure a memorable expedition across Central Himalaya with you.

Alpine Guides

Professional and reliable, Alpine Guides, situated directly at the heart of Aoraki National Park, is our affiliate in New Zealand. Have a look at their list of internationally-certified mountain guides, some have even been to summit Everest, and you can see how committed they are into the business. Hence, this Mt. Cook Village-based company was the top choice for MIR 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th as well as 8th-batch to undergo their Basic Technical Mountaineering Course.

If Southern Alps is your next destination, just drop Bryan, the company’s boss, an email.

NATAS Singapore Women Everest Team

Founded by MIR graduates: Jane Lee, Sim Yihui, Elza Tan and Linda Tan, who just completed Island Peak barely 2 months before, this group of women was not half-kidding when they first publicly announced on 26 July 2004 that they were going to scale Everest, the world-tallest peak, by 2008.

Well, of course things in life are not always going smoothly. Yet what matters at the end is hardwork and perseverance. Despite setbacks in fundraising that cost a 1-year delay in their expedition and change in the original formation of the team, two of the original members, Jane and Yihui, with four other new members: Esther Tan, Joanne Soo, Lee Lihui and Lee Peh Gee, altogether realized their dream on 20 May 2009!!!
