MIR AY11/12 Sem 2 End of Training Cycle

Hi all!~

It has been a long semester with heavier workloads and more intensive training(if you know what I mean). We have come to the end of our training cycle for this semester and it has been great training along with everyone! Hope that everyone have improved physically but more importantly, achieved a higher level of mental stamina and endurance to face whatever that may hit you. I believe Mountaineering is more than just climbing and whatever we have went through together will always stay within us because there can only be 1 MIR11!

For anyone who still desires to train this week, FEEL FREE TO JOIN Mera Expedition training!!

Tuesday 10 April (Mera Expedition Training)

Training Plan: Slop Intervals

Time to meet: 1815hrs. Approximate ending time is 2030hrs.

Venue to meet: Outside MIR Store/Clubroom

Attire: Physical Training Attire (dri-fit clothing where possible) and running shoes.

Wednesday 11 April (Mera Expedition Training)

Training Plan: Resistance Training

Time to meet: 1815hrs. Approximate ending time is 2030hrs.

Venue to meet: Outside MIR Store/Clubroom

Attire: Physical Training Attire (dri-fit clothing where possible) and running shoes.

Saturday 14 April (Mera Expedition Training)

Training Plan: Bukit Timah Hill Training

Time to meet: 0830hrs.

Attire: Physical Training Attire(dri-fit clothing where possible) and trekking shoes/boots.

Training Load: 12kg for girls and 14kg for guys. Do waterproof your stuff in the event of bad weather.

Hi all!~

Hang in there everyone we are almost at the end of our semester and training cycle which means we are GOING OVERSEAS TO ENJOY SOON! Here’s this week’s Assessment details:

Tuesday 03 April

Training Plan: 10km Fast March

Training Load: 14kg for Guys, 12kg for Girls

Time to meet: 1815hrs. Approximate ending time is 2030hrs.

Venue to meet: Outside MIR Store/Clubroom

Attire: Physical Training Attire (dri-fit clothing where possible) and running shoes.

Thursday 05 April

Training Plan: Beep Test

Time to meet: 1815hrs. Approximate ending time is 2030hrs.

Venue to meet: Outside MIR Store/Clubroom

Attire: Physical Training Attire (dri-fit clothing where possible) and running shoes.

Sunday 08 April

Training Plan: MIR Challenge

Time to meet: 0810hrs. Approximate ending time is 1300hrs.

Venue to meet: Bukit Timah Visitor’s Center (Click here if you are unsure how to get there)

THINGS TO BRING: ALL TECHNICAL GEAR (Harness, Karabiners, Slings, Prusiks, Belay Device, Jumar)

Attire: Physical Training Attire(dri-fit clothing where possible) and trekking shoes/boots.

This is a NEW MIR Challenge which demands for perseverance, communication and most of all TEAMWORK!! It will be adventure race style *coughfunfunfuncough* so be there or be square!

The time has come to show the results of your training thus far! If you have not broken your limits, now is probably the best time to do so! Here’s this week’s Assessment details:

Tuesday 27 March

Training Plan: MPPT

Time to meet: 1815hrs. Approximate ending time is 2030hrs.

Venue to meet: Outside MIR Store/Clubroom

Attire: Physical Training Attire (dri-fit clothing where possible) and running shoes.

Thursday 29 March

Training Plan: 10km Endurance Run

Time to meet: 1815hrs. Approximate ending time is 2030hrs.

Venue to meet: Outside MIR Store/Clubroom

Attire: Physical Training Attire (dri-fit clothing where possible) and running shoes.

Saturday 31 March

Training Plan: Stairs Assessment

Time to meet: 0830hrs

Venue to meet: Queenstown MRT Control station

Attire: Physical Training Attire(dri-fit clothing where possible) and trekking shoes/boots.

Training Load: 10kg for all

The main objective of MIR’s training is primarily to build strong bonds among the members and it’s secondary task is to ensure our members are fit and ready to attack the mountains which they have set their sights on. Through this assessment phase, I hope that you will be able to see the rapport you have built over the last semester as you push each other towards greater heights in terms of physical and mental strength as you overcome these assessments!
